There are three primary types of whole-house humidifiers: steam, bypass, and fan-powered. Steam Humidifiers
Steam humidifiers introduce moisture into the air by electrically heating water until it boils, producing steam. This steam is then circulated throughout your home via vents, independent of your furnace’s operation. Steam humidifiers are not only the quickest but also the most natural way to optimize and maintain comfortable humidity levels.Fan-Powered Humidifiers
Similar to bypass humidifiers, fan-powered humidifiers include a fan to blow air across the internal pad (water panel). These humidifiers outperform their bypass counterparts by averaging a gallon more of humidity daily. They draw minimal electricity, equivalent to the cost of a 25-watt light bulb, and don’t require a bypass duct, making them ideal for installation in confined spaces.
Bypass Humidifiers
Bypass humidifiers supplement moisture to the warm air produced by a furnace. Warm air is drawn from the heating ducts, flows through a water panel, absorbs moisture, and reintroduces it into the air stream and your home.
